New beginnings: Singer Nouman Javaid to tie the knot with actor Jana Malik

Nouman Javaid's year began on a bad note, but things appear to be looking up for the singer. In March, after a bad patch in his marriage with singer Fariha Pervez, Nouman was reported to have attempted suicide. Four months later, he is lucky to have found love again, and is now set to get married to  Mor Mahal actor Jana Malik. The couple is to sign their  nikkah  (marriage contract) in an intimate ceremony today. Nouman and Jana speak to Images about their first meet and future plans. Nouman:  We met on 12 August and went to see a film on our first ever meeting. Jana:  Well, it's really very strange, we're almost from the same fraternity but we hadn't ever really met. We were friends, I knew of him. We met for the first time on 12 Aug this year. It was great because it was for a movie - and first day, first show tickets were hard to get by, but he managed to get them, and was really excited about it. Actor Jana Malik now has an online bakery

The  Naagin  actor was two when she had her first photo shoot and thirteen when she appeared on PTV for the first time. Since then she has appeared in a number of TV serials like  Naagin, Ek Tamanna Lahasil Si  and  Aiteraaf . But it looks like she's branching out from the acting career and heading towards a bakery. In a conversation with Images, Malik who is based in Lahore spoke about her journey sharing, "I've loved cooking and baking since I was a child. People tackle stress in different ways: some paint, some read; for me, it's cooking and baking. It's extremely therapeutic for me and is a stress-reliever." "Before taking it up professionally, friends and family have also told me that I cook well, and have  zaiqa  in my hands so that really boosted my confidence." Pakistani dramas have made colossal strides over the last decade, raising the bar for quality writing, innovation and realism. No, we don’t mean the daytime soaps that are full of saas/bahu sazishes (mother-in-law/daughter-in-law scheming) but the prime-time offerings of our major channels. Ever increasing internet access and the spread of social media have put any show just a click away. A sizable section of the Indian public and the worldwide subcontinental diaspora now make up a hitherto unheard of international audience. So it made perfect business sense for Indian broadcasting giant Zee TV to take advantage of such a commercial opportunity and dedicate a channel called Zee Zindagi to their transmission.
